A lifelong commitment to the environment will continue to give for generations thanks to this wonderful Environmental Fund

About Fraser

50 years of dedicated service to the environment earned Fraser Ross a QSM for Services to Conservation — not that he’d ever tell you that himself.

From a humble start at Seaforth to working as far afield as London, the story of Fraser Ross and his love of conservation is quite the tale.

Fraser Ross was in his 80’s when he found he physically couldn’t continue the conservation work that was so dear to him.

In 2016 he reached out to us at the Aoraki Foundation, and in the years since then, the Fraser Ross Environmental Fund has continued the work that Fraser loved so much over his lifetime

Fraser has been involved with the regeneration of Arowhenua Bush since 1975, when a massive storm almost wiped it out. Forest & Bird have recently acquired this land, and The Fraser Ross Environmental Fund’s first grant will go towards research and propagation of this precious lowland native bush. It is wonderful that Fraser’s gift can impact a project so close to his heart, and we know it gives him great peace of mind to know the work he started will continue into the future because of his partnership with the Aoraki Foundation.

Can I get a grant?

This fund does not have a contestable grant round, instead we can register interest for environmental projects to support. The first point of contact should be an email to the Aoraki Foundation with a brief explanation of the project or opportunity.
